Offshore wind parks

The renewable energy target for Greece for 2030 is 7.050 MW. At this moment about 3.500 MW is in use. So in the next 10 years another 3.500 MW has to be realized. This is about the amount of MW of currently pending production licenses for offshore wind parks in Greece.

Compared with onshore parks, offshore wind farms have some advantages, like stronger and steadier wind, which means more energy and also a more reliable source of energy. And if well positioned, not very close to the coast, they are not so intrusive for small communities.

Also the industry is now looking into floating offshore parks.  Due to excellent wind conditions offshore, deep waters and the strong industrial, yard and maritime tradition, Greece is well positioned to become an important area for these floating parks.
