Another wind park cancelled
The industrial wind farm in the area of Finikies proposed by the company PIRITIOUM A.E. of KOPELOUZOS GROUP, is NOT going to happen because the energy company itself revoked the electricity production license that was granted (the orange coloured parks on the map).
According to our previous announcements over the last few months:
1. The same company (PIRITIOUM A.E. of KOPELOUZOS GROUP) withdrew its application in the SOPATA area (below Aigios Giorgos in Avlemonas)
2. The company SILICON APPLICATIONS of KOPELOUZOS GROUP revoked its electricity production license at MERMINGARIS HILL.
3. The company ELLAKTOR SA revoked 2 electricity production licenses, respectively in the areas of KROTIRIA-KEFALAKIA (above Agia Pelagia) and KROTIRI-KEFALOVOUNI-PYRGOS (above Mylopotamos).
Hence, the new revocation of the second license of KOPELOUZOU IN FINIKIES area is now added to the list of revocation.
It is important to reiterate that the consistent multi-dimensional actions of a united island are constantly bearing fruits. We promise to continue to fight against the implementation of all industrial-scale energy projects on the island of Kythira.
Our next goal is to make sure the energy projects of the company TERNA SA in the NW part of the island are also NOT IMPLEMENTED.
The legal battle continues in November at the ADMINISTRATIVE COURT OF ATHENS. Already the Special Environmental Study, which was very recently put out for consultation with the general public, demonstrates how completely inappropriate the siting of all three industrial-scale projects of TERNA SA are for Kythira.
