Great victory for Kythira in the battle against the industrial wind farms!! Can you spot the difference between the two maps?

The island’s battle against the energy frenzy is once more vindicated. First Kopelouzos group withdrew their wind farm proposals at Mermiggaris a few months ago, and now ELLAKTOR group is withdrawing its energy production licenses in the areas KROTIRI‐KEFALAKIA (above Agia Pelagia) and KROTIRI‐KEFALOVOUNI‐PYRGOS (Opposite Mylopotamos).

The social outcry against these projects, the consistent legal battle, the island’s counter‐proposal with the establishment of the Energy Community, plus a Special Environmental Survey, currently underway, that is presenting negative findings regarding the installation of industrial wind farms on the island, have most likely forced the company to withdraw its projects.

We continue to fight for all industrial‐scale projects to be withdrawn from the island and to prevent potential new investors from applying for similar projects in the future.
